Not sure but...
By CQ

Clip to ScrapBook
I taught a 6th grade literacy group a few years ago. We had quite a bit of trouble with punctuation...not that they didn't know how--they just didn't make the effort. So I began communicating with the class via the overhead.
The evening before I would write out instructions for their assignment, purposely omitting "all" punctuation and capitals. I also used double negatives, etc...I introduced the lesson by telling the class that my doctor had instructed me to refrain from speaking because I had put a strain on my vocal cords. So because I couldn't bear to be away from them, I decided not to take sick
leave but stay and just communicate via the written word. The class was thrilled! No teaching!

My first correspondence went this way:

my throats sore sew this is youre assignments monday due 123 questions from your textbook on tuesday then due 789 practice questions from the back of the book on pages 236 you are to due the 468 challenge questions on the bottom of the page wednesday thursday and friday there will be approximately 110 comprehension questions over what i taught you monday

The class spent the better part of the day correcting my instructions. LOL
