problems in school
By Doni

Clip to ScrapBook
Some problems in school we have control over, it's the ones we have no contrrol over that sometimes affect learning the most.

Parents who are completely uninvolved.
Parents who think teachers are glorified babysitters
and give no support.
Children who do not get fed at home or have a decent night's sleep.
Attendance - kids who do not come to school, but we are still accountable for their learning.
Parents who do not support what the teacher is doing in class and pass on this to their kids.
Poverty and inequitable spending between the "rich" schools and the "poor" schools.
Children with
emotional problems that need serious counseling.

I believe the home environment is critical to the success of any child. It is very difficult to help a child succeed when they are being abused or neglected at home. How do you teach a child who sleeps through class because the child has no bed time? How do you teach a child who comes to school crying every day because of situations at home? How do you teach a child who is absent at least one day every week and never makes up any work? These are the problems we see in our school on a daily basis.
