Hi Judie,

I have been applying the principles of Dr. Marshall for the past several years. I can tell you that my confidence as a teacher and the atmosphere of my roomn has radically changed for the better!

I'm aware
of some of Fred Jones' management techniques, and I use some of them. Also, I've found Fay and Funk's TEACHING WITH LOVE AND LOGIC nicely pulls everything together with its emphasis on "relationships."
I want to encourage you to know that you are NOT too far gone! I took over a "lost" 6th grade class midway through last year, and immediately taught the levels of behavior to establish

behavior expectations (I have a post somewhere about this experience on this Board). The kids embraced the concept of personal responsiblity, and they were ready to learn that first week.

Dr. Marshall's website is worth a look. It has what you need to jumpstart a new discipline approach. There is also a great webring of support, which is listed on Marshall's website.
