Assuming that your students are in groups, give each student a number (1-4) Ask the whole class a question, giving time for each student to think of the answer, then give time for the group to discuss the answer. Finally, call out a number (1-4) and have that student from each group stand up. He/She is then responsible for giving the group answer.

Another method is to do the same as above, but use small white boards and have the students write the answer, then stand and hide the answer until you ask for it. My students love this, mainly because they love to write on the white boards.

One other way is to put the students in partners (A and B) and then do the same process as above, but have either A or B stand up to give the answer. You can use the YES/NO cards or A/B/C/D cards if you're doing a multiple choice answer with any of these methods.

My class is so talkative that this gives them a chance to talk about something constructive and it also gives me immediate feedback on who is and is not understanding objectives. I hope this was clear. Good luck!
