They could write a paragraph about there favorite holiday, or you could specify a holiday (ex. Christmas) and they have to write about traditions their family has with that holiday or just their favorite Christmas (or whatever| holiday you choose) They could make a booklet called "The sights and sounds of Christmas." Each page could have one of the five senses where they write about that (ex. if it was smell, they might write that they smell Christmas cookies, pine trees, hot chocolate, etc.) They could add pictures to each page. You could make some type of group game that could be played with little | | help from you about books about Christmas. You could have them make a Christmas tree out of Construction paper, then have different patterns of ornaments. You could round colorful sheets of paper, and on those they would have to write one noun on each. Then make another ornament shape (Candy canes, bells, sleds, mittens, snowflakes, etc.) and designate them for verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjuctions, interjections, and pronouns. They can glue these "ornaments" on their tree. Have them each bring in their favorite book about Christmas (preferably picture books, since you most likely have a time period) and they can read them to a partner who is with them in the center.
