From the mouth of babes

Your post gave me a chuckle as well

Obviously she must hear a lot of this type of advice from home and now wants to share it with you.

I would thank her as well, and then quietly explain to her that sometimes teachers
have to set rules that may seem a bit rough but are very important in helping all the students learn to follow the rules of the classroom.

This would acknowledge her efforts to be nice to everyone but would help her to realize that while she may be told this is what to do when you have made someone mad or upset, that sometimes it is different when a teacher or grown-up does the same

thing.

In my grade one class I often have 1 or 2 students who just love to tattle on everyone. Eventually I do need to tell them that it's my job to notice what is being done in the classroom not theirs. I still thank them for wanting to help, but I keep reminding them when they want to tattle.

Part of our jobs as Primary teachers is to help these little ones figure out their roles as students and how to interact with one another as well as with their teachers.
