    Hi bs,
I worked with a friend for a few years. We really enjoyed it. You have to be commited to working more than half time, especially in the beginning. We scheduled at least one day each week to have a working lunch to talk about the kids. In addition, we had a communications log, where we wrote about students, curriculum, parent issues, etc. so we always knew what was going on. Faculty meetings were attended based upon their content. Our district only allows teachers who do an am/pm split. We switched after lunch.
Our schedule was a typical one for intermediate:
    8:45-9:00 Settling in
Language Arts Block...integrating Social Studies and Science content as often as possible thru reading, interactive read alouds, literature conversations and writing
    9:00-10:00 Reader's Workshop
    10:00-11:00 Writer's Workshop
    11:00-11:30 Word Study
    11:30-12:15 Lunch
    12:15-1:45 Math /Science Block
    1:45-2:30 Specials
    2:30-3:15 Content Area Projects, etc.
Prior to the beginning of the year, we worked to curriculum map and integrate all the standards in all subject areas. This makes it easy to see where you're headed and do benchmarks. Best of luck! ;-D
