subbing

Clip to ScrapBook
yeah--the grading thing is really iffy--i know most teachers DO like things graded; i think i'm one of the few who prefer that it not be done--but that's why i leave a note.

i saw that a previous poster mentioned that s/he
likes a note left about good students. i forgot to mention that--i make it VERY CLEAR in my sub notes that i expect this to be done--because when i return, i consequate behavior--i give out negative and positive consequences. my students know this going into a sub and that helps temper their behavior. if i don't get specifics on a note, it makes me cranky, because then i can't follow
through--it also shows that my sub didn't read the note/or follow my directions.

yeah, every teacher/classroom/school is different--there aren't many absolutes...

if you have any thoughts that something shouldn't be done while you're there (AR tests), just tell the kid s/he can do it the next day when the teacher is there. (This note is mentioned in my sub note--i don't want the substitute to be paying anyone for their jobs or taking Newbucks for prizes--incentive program). This way, when i get back, i know who's been paid--no one. That keeps things fair.
