Bad days
By ally

Clip to ScrapBook
Is there any way you can "reward" the students who do behave? For example, for those who finish their work, ten minutes at the end of the day on the playground...those not done, bring work and can't play. Once I subbed
in a class where the outside door opened onto the playground so I could stand at the door and supervise, while the non-worker group stayed in their desks and missed out. Maybe in yuckier weather, you could let those who are done, have free time in the class.

You might also want to consider sending those who are being really rude to the office. This of course does not always work...I

once sent a kid to the office for extremely rude behaviour and he came back in 10 minutes, chewing gum that he said the principal GAVE him! Some schools will really back you up on discipline and some, just don't care.

And while leaving a note for the teacher does not make your day any easier, maybe he/she will follow up and talk to the class...might make it slightly better the next time.

I try my best to concentrate on the students who are working, hence the treat at the end of the day...less stress for me than worrying about the rude slackers. Good luck!
