Been there myself By Heather

I have been there many times. In our district, we don't use a calling service. The secretary calls in whom ever she feels she should. Once they have their picks, it's hard to get into those schools. When I first started | subbing years ago, I was accepted at an elem. school as a temp. aide. Then from there, I moved to the other elem. school as a perm. sub for 3rd grade. I had to quit subbing because of a great job offer, which wasn't all roses and candy once I got there. When I went back to work for the schools, it took me almost 2 months to get re established. That very year, I was offered a perm. | | sub position at middle level, and have been there ever since. Yea it is hard to get back into the ring. Especially when schools have certain subs they prefer. Sometimes I wonder about those automated sub lines. I wonder if they use them when "all else fails", you know when their favorite is already commited somewhere else in the school. Hang in there. Your time will come. My suggestion is to call, no visit each school. Let them know you are available (with no restrictions), give them one of your cards, make sure they have your numbers etc.... Good luck!
