Sub Plans
By Music Man

Clip to ScrapBook
It's funny, I just ran across this post by accident while googling for ideas for music lesson plans for the future if I'm sick. Music teachers ARE in a bit of a bind when it comes to finding subs that are comfortable singing
and playing piano. If they can't find a sub in our district, they cancel music which puts extra pressure on "special" teachers not to EVER be sick. I think I can speak for all special area teachers when I say that we get really tired of hearing the same complaints about us. If you don't think we are needed, then I'd love to hear your attitude when you don't get music, pe, art, media
or whatever specials your district offers. As for testing and "accountability," don't worry, it's headed straight for the special areas (if we aren't eliminated by cutbacks- we ARE the first to be axed, you know!!) Soon we will be just as miserable as "real" teachers. Also, I would LOVE to take a "mental health" day and have plans like "Turn to page 4" or "have them do this math worksheet." We just need to face the facts that we are different. You shouldn't judge a person until you walk a mile in their shoes. That way you are a mile away and have a new pair of shoes. Bye.
