Clip to ScrapBook
Why don't you eat in the lounge at least 2 or 3 days a week? I don't necessarily love to eat in the teacher's lounge either but I know my coworkers would be insulted if I ditched them every day. We usually talk about subjects
other than school so it's not so bad. Why don't you bring up other subjects if they start going on and on about students?

I eat in the lounge 4 days a week and on Fridays I take my students to the room to eat if they earn it. I think you need to put in some face time with your coworkers so that they don't get offended.

It's great to be there for your students but you've got to

also have a good working relationship with your coworkers too (or at least try.)

As far as the person who wants to plan with you, can't you ask her to plan on a day before you've made your lesson plans? Tell her you make your plans on Friday so can we try to get together on Thursday? (Or whatever the day happens to be.)

I think it's important to keep working relationships with your coworkers. You don't have to be best friends or anything but friendly on a professional level.

Let us know if things change for you.
