parents complaining about another teacher
By 4th grade

Clip to ScrapBook
How do you deal with this: my class is well-behaved for me because I am very strict and have a structured environment. Plus I am with them most of the time. There are SEVERAL students who have the potential to act out
and I have to keep the lid on all the time. (It's not an easy year for me.)

When they go to rotary classes, they act up every time and these students are always getting sent to the office. I've had about 4 parents complain about these classes, how their children don't like them. Now just this week, one of the good kid's moms was in to the principal to complain about how her daughter

is stuck in a "bad" class.

I feel personally responsible for how my class behaves no matter where they are. Yet I know that the issues in rotary classes are due a lot to the teachers' management styles and the fact that it's a change of routine for the students. I get embarrassed when other teachers tell me how wild my class is.

I also feel that I look ineffective to the parents. The rotary teachers compare my class to their other classes- "You are the worst class I teach! My other 4th grade does this better", etc... which does not help when they go home and tell their parents.
