testing in georgia
By Doni

Clip to ScrapBook
Hey,

I'm also in Georgia. We were told yesterday by the superintendent that Riverside Publishing (the new contract holders for the CRCT) are supposed to release testing prep books very soon. This week is when we should
here when they're coming. Until then, go to the ga doe web site www.doe.k12.ga.us and they have sample tests from previous years. The CRCT is not supposed to change at all this year - only the company handling the contract will change. The reading test will change next year with the adoption of the new performance standards.

Another good source for testing materials is to check your

TE's and see if they came with the prep books for Georgia standardized tests. Our math books (Silver Burdette) came with these and they are pretty good.

One thing we have been doing is starting to give commulative exams in the format of the CRCT that we write ourselves. For instance in history and science we give the students reading passages andmultiple choice questions worded like the ones on the CRCT. On cummulative math tests we also give them multiple choice response questions to get them used to the format. We created our own bubble sheets for these. The teachers on my grade level (5th) get together and write the tests.

Good Luck, I definitely know what you are going through.
Doni
