to just curious

I think that the poster has more questions that she wants to have answered. Maybe she is leaning toward having her child put in third, but I think she also has reservations and wants to be completely sure. I think she is
putting down her feelings on the matter and expressing how she's thinking (and like I said, she maybe leaning toward moving him), but wants feedback from others about her feelings to see if she is thinking correctly or maybe overlooked something. I don't think she was being defensive.

Now to my thoughts, I am a third grade teacher. I have had a few students over time that did skip

a grade. Some did better than others. Maturity is mainly the issue, but most were accepted by their peers in the new grade. Personally, I think that there are modifications that can be made. Forgive me if you already answered this, but has he been tested for gifted? I have had several students that were gifted (and not in a pull out program) that were challenged without skipping a grade. If he hasn't been tested, then I say make that your first step. Give your input in the MTeam on his IEP, and make sure the teacher is doing her job with him if he does qualify.

I hope this helps some.
