sub plans

Clip to ScrapBook
Since you'll be gone 7 days, I'd really like the idea of a single theme or unit for that time, like Darci suggested. Not something you have to pick up on when you return. If you have a folder like that, all collected,
with activities and a video or two, and some crafts, the sub could take the info and ideas and really make it her own. Remember, not everything can be put under a theme umbrella though. She/he will still have the regular math, phonics, technology, etc to cover.

I plan the first few days very carefully, even do all the copying etc. I leave the rest of the days scheduled more generally,

with suggestions, teachers guide pages and line masters but not with detailed planning. I encourage the sub to run with the unit, plan the rest at her own pace and make it hers. Many subs have experiences, materials and ideas of their own they would like to bring into their week, and I'd like to encourage that and trust her or him with it.

The other info already mentioned; parent contacts, departure info, seating plan, special needs information, discipline plan etc is still necessary. Once you gather that together, keep a copy of it so you're ready for your next sub. Before you leave, plan your return lesson so you can enjoy your 7 days away!
