I was there, too!
By A new one, too

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi!
I completely know how you are feeling. I was hired as a new kindergarten teacher this time LAST year. The class had already been through 4 teachers before me, with the regular teacher, and two new para-pros. I was
only 1/2 time, and to boot, I was not there when they walked in, and I wasn't there to hug them goodbye. There were only about 6 parents who knew that I was there as a teacher. The other teacher in the classroom didn't even help to make me feel like this was may class, because, "they had already been through enough changes." Plus, she liked being the "real teacher." I was frustrated
on more than one level and occassion, but I kept reminding myself that this would pass. I also reminded myself that teaching was my "dream job" and I should suck it up and keep going. I did just that and was offered a full time position this year, and actually got 4 of the kids from my class last year.
It seems that teachers can be really cliquie, just as others are in most other situations. If you allow others to think that you are happy, then they will make the effort to get to know you, too! If nothing else fails, remember: to have a friend is to be a friend. Be yourself, but definitely, be POSITIVE!
