Get-togethers with colleagues

Clip to ScrapBook
Funny you should mention that. At our school, we do this once a month. Yes, it does take place at one of the local watering holes (we have several in the area that we use in rotation). As a matter of fact, our most recent
gathering was just yesterday.

One of our teachers is the unofficial "Social Director" and has taken on the responsibility of sending out notices to all staff members each month about the particulars of date and location. She usually does this a couple of weeks in advance, with a reminder notice a couple of days before the scheduled event.

Attendance varies from month to month,

but it is nice to have a scheduled time to let your hair down (for those who have hair ) and just unwind. In our building, it's been "one of those weeks" with all kinds of crud coming down on our heads from Central Office about testing and NCLB, so everyone's morale has basically been in the toilet. Yesterday afternoon, teachers could be heard humming "It's Margarita Time" (to the tune of the old "It's Howdy Doody Time") as we moved through the halls in anticipation of our funfest. Sometimes, ya just gotta let it all hang out and blow off some steam. The option is that or the looney bin!
