Subbing
By Tricia

Clip to ScrapBook
I was so frustrated when I first signed up to sub! I wanted to get my foot in the door for a teaching job yet no one was calling me! I quickly found out that schools have regular subs that they call first. The school I
am teaching at now has subs (the same ones) that come in every day and when they fill spots with them they call the reserves! I finally stopped waiting for the phone to ring and I called them every day! At first they would say no, but after a while they began to schedule me! Then, at the end of the day when I dropped by the office to turn the sub badge in, I would talk to the person
that schedules subs and see if I could get something the next day. It started slow but after a while they got to where they called me more and more and even scheduled me in advance. Just be patient but don't sit and wait! Go around and introduce yourself, and call each morning or afternoon and see if they need a sub. Also keep in mind that you will have to prove yourself to be a good sub. Good luck and keep us posted on how things are going. Business cards are good to pass out and you might even be able to have flyers placed in the teacher's mailboxes.
