Jumping ship
By Cathy-Dee

Clip to ScrapBook
I agree with the others in that you should stay where you are enjoying teaching and see what happens next year.

No matter what grade we teach we can have those years with a group of students who really "try" us. Enjoying
your curriculum and that age group can make it at least a bit more bearable than if you changed to a grade you didn't enjoy. And perhaps if you changed grades, the following year the same situation could arise in that grade's next class.

And as the others have already stated - grade 3 students have a new maturity level that often doesn't show up until after the first month of school.

And classes will usually be mixed up and changed so that may alleviate some of the "problems". Students may move away as well.

And some students work better with other teachers as well. My student last year who almost drove me crazy by the end of June was still a handful for his teacher this year - but he has responded to her methods and there are improvements at least. Plus my "second child of distraction" moved away.

And except for some very extreme circumstances I really do believe we can handle almost any class for a year regardless of how difficult they may be. These are the years we get stretched as teachers and really develop in our classroom management skills.
