4 blocks
By ChrisH

Clip to ScrapBook
Carson-Delosa has the entire 4 blocks series that takes you step by step through eacht of the sections of the program. They are done by grade level so it makes it easy to find the materials. M-W we all read the same story
from our reading book and this is where I do minilessons about characters, plot, etc. and they sometimes read in small groups, with a partner, or on their own. During this time I don't worry about whether they finish the story b/c we discuss it each day in a different way so they will comprehend the story after the three days. On Thurs. and Fri. I do book clubs where they are reading
chapter books which they have chosen. There are 4-5 students in a group and when each group has finished, they decide how to give a book talk to the class. Then we vote on which book they would like to read next and so on. I have 5 different titles and it will take us to the end of the school year I'm guessing so that each student will be able to read each book. We assess using the Rigby reading assessment. I can talk about my 4 blocks all day obviously!! If you ever have any questions you can email me at jchobsonfrontiernet.net. Good luck!!
