wearing others' glasses By Former Teacher

Two things concern me about this story:1) Wearing glasses that have not been prescribed can be very bad for the eyes. This little girl needs to understand that she can damage her own vision by wearing someone else's glasses. 2) | Or, maybe she found that she could see better with the glasses. Perhaps she needs to have her vision checked. When I told my parents that I was having trouble seeing the board, they thought I was just seeking attention. My sister had worn glasses for years and got to have sort of a special day with our dad every time she went to the eye doctor. By the time I finally got | | corrective lenses, I could hardly see the big E on the eye chart. My vision now is 20/800 is both eyes. (20/200 is considered legally blind.) Fortunately contact lenses give me nearly 20/20 vision, but I really could not see that board in class!I agree with the other poster that she was obviously seeking attention. But why? Anyway, good luck to you with the class. If you have not done so already, emphasize to them the significance of medical prescriptions. Glasses, medicine, vitamins, whatever should not be shared/stolen/distributed in any way. Doctors prescribe these things based on the needs of the patient, not the patient's friends. That's the angle I would probably take, rather than the theft issue.
