    My first year

Well, I started mid-year in October. The other teacher is another position working with us teachers.

I got stuck with the class with the two bad boys who are just uggghhh!! One has anger aggression, the other student is just a pouter and once he shuts down, it's over. He whines a lot, and does everything else imaginable.

So we are a REading First school, so everything has to be done by the book. There's no adding your own ideas, so I do 2 1/2 hours of language arts. ELD lessons are another 1/2 hour on top of that.

We like to be an assessment school. So we assess assess, assess. YIppy!!! My school starts at 8:45, but since I live 40 minutes away it's just best for me to leave early. I get to the school at 7:20 a.m., but usually leave by 4:00, but always have things to do at home. So I may go home not too late, but I still do the extra work. I'd just rather be at home doing stuff, then stuck alone in my classroom.

Honestly though, student teaching does not totally prepare you for the real world of teaching. It is much more demanding and tiring. I'm only 23 and used to go to bed at 11 p.m. I now go to bed at 9 p.m. because I am just pooped.

    But that's just me.
