Disruptive Student-HELP! By R.

Hello. I am having a major probelm with a student who is new to the district. I teach at a VERY rural school district and the studetns who attend this school are definately from "the back woods." These students are good| and normally well mannered. However this student has brought a weatlh of nasty language and behavior with him. Of course my students think he is just wonderful because he is "cool." However I have come to find out that he has a social agressive behavior and is medicated for this. He has been manageable until now. For the past few weeks he has become very aggressive and has started | | to hit other students. I should mention that I teach sixth grade and those of you who are familiar to this grade know that they are constantly messing around with each other. Well this is what he is doing but it is quickly becoming out of hand. He is now looking at others and making provoking comments just to cause a stir. I have given him time on the "wall" at recess, detention, and have contacted his mother. I am at a loss. Can someone please share with me what to do with a child who has a problem with keeping his hands to himself in the sixth grade? I am really afraid that if something is not done soon or some type of workable punishment is found that someone in my classroom will become seriously injured.
