I know the feeling!
By Sandra

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi!
I totally understand what you mean. My cooperating teacher during my 3 semesters of student teaching had been teaching 29 years... imagine how hard it is to feel like you're being watched every single second you're
working! Then to make matters worse, since she had been teaching so long, some of her retired teacher friends would come in and help her out with things while I was teaching my lessons... I swear I started getting paranoid everytime I slipped up. I lost my confidence because I thought they might be talking about me or critiquing my performance LOL! How ridiculous. It also took me a LONG
time to be able to discipline the children because I was always wondering if I was over reacting or only picking on certain students for misbehaviors. I know it's hard. I didn't think I'd make it through my third semester when I was full time teaching and i started to get defensive every time my cooperating teacher corrected me. Is there any way you can get a transfer? If not, how much longer is there? maybe just stick it out if you can. After all, deep down you KNOW you can do it and you are good at it. Just pretend those other people aren't even there. (if it helps, I even started playing the I have Confidence song from the Sound of Music every morning before coming to school LOL!) Hope I've helped even a little!
