    ADD
By I can feel your pain

I can't believe there are educators out there in this world that know nothing about ADD. It is way to commonly diagnosed for this not to be known about as an educator. I'm currently on the other side of the coin. I'm the teacher, we have documentation that medication is necessary, and parents who refuse to see that this is so. I am expected to do it all even though there is no legal documentation that we have saying I need to make any modifications. I'm really at a loss as to how much more I can do before the parents step up to the plate and do something to help the situation. I wish I had you as a parent---at least you are able to see what your child's problems are and are willing to work to get what needs to make your child a successful learner---Yeah for you!!!

I totally agree that students are taught to the test and low end students get a whole lot more attention than the high end. I have a VERY bright son who gets an ok eduacation in a NC high school. I've tried, but all money goes to the low end students. I've decided to do things on my own with my son and my daughter, who seems to be following in that same path. I can't let a school system prevent my child from reaching their potential and have just found other avenues to supplement the mediocrity they receive.

    Good luck to you!
