Resigning Teacher By MEC
|
|
On Friday, a member of our fourth grade team announced that she was moving on to a well-deserved IRT position. Before the end of the day, our team leader, who suffers from depression, anorexia, and a degree of paranoia,| announced that she had tendered a letter of resignation. She had made her decision impulsively, after encountering a problem with a parent. Today (Monday), my teammate was in an I-don't-care-mood at the beginning of the day--then turned around dramatically about an hour later and told me that we would have a say as to who would be hired to take the place of our friend who would be leaving. | | I am accustomed to my teammate having these ups and downs, but I am concerned that our principal seems to have cajoled this obviously troubled teacher into staying. I still have not grieved over my other teammate's departure, so I am not thrilled at the prospect of hiring someone else to take her place. I find it difficult to work in a negative environment, so I am afraid that when my friend leaves, I will be even more vulnerable to my other teammate's ups and downs. I have already discussed this issue with my principal, but I don't know if I should trust her--I am so surprised that she did not accept the resignation. Any advice? I have already asked to move to a different grade level, but my principal wants me to stay in fourth grade since I do a good job of bringing up test scores.
