missing paper
By tia

Clip to ScrapBook
i feel for you! i have had the same experience! i am not the most organized or neatest person, however; i have never lost a student's paper. any time a paper has been missing (even when the student SWEARS that s/he has
turned it in) it miraculously appears in his/her desk or binder. i'll bet that the student shoved it in his/her desk/binder and forgot to turn it in.

when i give tests, i tell the student to NOT turn it in to the basket (i have one for each subject); the tests get handed to me--this helps me in a few ways: i can see who is finishing when, if they completed the entire test, if they tried

to get away with not doing the extra credit (a no-no), if they need me to explain something differently in order for them to do better on a question that i know they can do...i also have the papers out, handy, so i know they are important enough to grade soon--not lingering and getting moldy in the turn-in basket--but most importantly, and in reference to your dilemna...before we move on to next subject or recess, i have the papers in hand and can count to make sure i have all, if not, i can check the basket to see who didn't follow directions, check to see if someone is still working, if all else fails, play the name game to see whose i don't have.

good luck finding that test!!
