There is hope! By Steven

I had (and still have) both ADHD and ADD (two completely seperate things). I was unable to get it under control until about the time I turned 16. Now, I am a sophmore working on my Elem. Education degree. Recalling what| I went through, there are a few things you (and all teachers) should know. Does she have ADD issues as well as ADHD? First, the only way to get her to "settle down" is to have a concrete rule system in place that is used. Just as important is that this carries over into her home life (or the opposite if it is already being done at home). It may be necessary to make bargains with | | her. If she loves to read, and you are lecturing (or trying to) on a science subject, maybe you can come to an agreement where she is allowed to read in her book about the subject while the rest of the class is listening. Also, the possability exists that she is "bright" or "gifted" in one or more areas. In my case, I would go nuts during times when the class was reading because I was reading at a college level in 6th grade. Waiting for the other students to catch up would make me want to strangle others (literally). Think about the movie matilda (non-animated version). She may need a vent to help her. Another question, are there anger management issues? That's all I can think of, and I am trying not to ramble too much here.
