Musicals or younger kids By Jade

I don't have a script, but a nearby town has done Junior Musicals. There must be a company out there that you can rent these from (don't know about royalties, though) if you are really serious. My friend's daughter appeared| in a middle school production of "Fiddler on the Roof Junior" and they are currently doing "Oliver Junior." I understand the scripts follow the basic story line but are modified for the capabilities of younger kids. Again, I don't know the company but a quick Google search might help you. Just a reminder about rights...while I doubt that the copyright police are waiting outside | | your door, you should still be conscious about those issues. I have done a lot of community theater and there is a fair amount of paperwork and expense involved in obtaining the rights to a major musical. It sounds like you would just like to do your own adaptation, and once more I don't know about legalities. You could get by just fine (I know a school who did The Little Mermaid that way) or the wrong poster could end up on the wrong executive's desk!!Pursue, this, though. With all of the other pressures we have, too many of us let the arts go for "real" school subjects, however I fully believe that students get a lot of life skills from participating in these sorts of projects. It's all about teamwork, organization, time management, dealing with disappointments, memorization, poise, and being unselfish. Good luck! I hope you are able to do this!!
