Actually, being a music teacher, or any teacher at that isn't a easy job. Just because a music teacher doesn't leave plans, doesn't make her job any easier than others. I have subbed in music classes, where the students | are practicing an upcoming play, where the teacher has left worksheets where students have to name musical notes, and where there have been nothing at all to do. I have also subbed in art, library and computer lab. I think that it depends on the teacher and the sub. If the teacher knows ahead of time that this sub has muscial experience, or experienced with computers, they may feel | | more comfortable leaving an assignment. Other times, they may think that the sub may not be able to handle it, or know anything about it, so they may leave a movie. It isn't' like in a regular classroom, where you have a book that basically tells you what to say and do. Music, and art are more like talents, which you can't look in a book for a couple of seconds and automatically have knowledge of what to do. But yea, it is nice to have to not be able to worry about standarized testing, detailed lesson plans, etc.... but it does get hetic in those classes as well. Everyone always thinks that someone else has it made at their job. That isn't always true. If you are complaining about music teachers having it made, and stating that you should have been music teachers, maybe you should look into being one.
