principals and gifts By tia

is it a male/female thing? my first principal (female) gave us mittens one year, then a mug, then an ornament... we don't give a staff present, but anyone who wants gives the principal a personal gift. the only thing we| go in on together is a present for boss's day. my next principal (male) gave us nothing and no thank yous for what was given him--just a blanket thank you for everything he was given typed in his weekly newsletter. mannerless slob. our current principal (female) gave us ornaments, candles, (now i'm getting confused because she's also given us gifts during educator week--a different | | candle, flower seeds, a nice pen...) and i got a thank you from her for my gift this year the day i gave it to her. now that's organized! this year, she wrote and typed up a poem for us explaining that she was wondering what to get us and that she knew we didn't need mugs..and that she'd already given us candles and ornaments...and that a lunch would be a good idea--so a couple days before break she had a lunch from a Mexican restaurant catered in for us--nice because more people than usual sat around and lingered over lunch and relaxed.my principal knows she gets paid well and that we don't and that we work our butts off and she's thankful for her job and to be working with us--and she tells us this all the time (it's not just about gifts). we're lucky to have her!
