I don’t think the sub caller even knows you are turning down and offer because it is a computer system. All it knows is that it did not assign a job number.
I was out yesterday because my car needed the heater coil replaced,
so I put the sub caller on a call out. Today the mechanic tells me the screws are frozen in, so I will be without transportation again tomorrow.
I was recently offered a long term sub job in Spanish but I was not sure I wanted it due the emergency situation at that school. I ended up being called out day by day there, so I am sure they are needing me again, only my car is not
available.
My situation is just one small example of the many things that can cause a sub to decline work. There can be a funeral, doctors appointment, illness, or just simply not available for some reason.
My phone just rang for a Spanish assignment tomorrow. I declined with no transportation even though I want to work really bad. A taxi would cost me more than I would earn.
So, it is seen, computers don’t reason the reasons, only it keeps track of who has job numbers. It all works like this: If you take a job number and fail to show up, you may be fired. Don’t take a job number if you can’t make it. It is better to not take a job for any reason than to take one and not fulfill the obligation.
