Isn't this part of it the pits!!! I have tried a variety of things over the years. Now I am in a smaller room with not so much elbow room and I hate it!!. For many years I have used colored folders with the days of the week on them, so when I run off copies, I can put the worksheets or cut construction paper or whatever in them. This year, because I have no desk top area, I am using a letter holder with 5 slots for each day of the week. Then I put my stuff in those as I get it. Another help I have found when I am sitting down with planbook in hand is to have a sticky note running along the side | | with copies I need to make--ie English worksheet page 56, etc. Then I don't stop my thoughts to go it right now. Also another sticky note or notepad with thoughts of what you might want to look for to aid whatever you are teaching...ie research antonyms on proteacher, etc. Then I can look when I get the minute or two, as long as I have the general thought of what skill I am teaching so I won't forget to look it up. I tried to do some long term planning also. Look ahead at what skills are coming up say in 2 weeks, so you can do some prior searching before setting down with planbook in hand. Don't expect to do it all your first year, either. It can't be done.Good luck.
