Love it!

Clip to ScrapBook
I went back to school after getting a communications degree and working in the business sector for several years. I would do it all over againg if I had to. My main advice is to "shop around" for a school that you want
to work at. Don't just take the first job that comes to you. I was very selective and have ended up in a school where the teachers, parents, and administration are awesome. TEaching is a lot of work, and I'm finishing up my Masters. But, it is well worth it. I consider it a passion. My main rule is, keep it simple. You are going to want to spend every waking hour in your classroom.
Give yourself a daily time limit and make yourself leave. Try not to take too much home with you. I only allow myself to stay late one night a week. Also, use your mentor and other resources. I have a parent come in for me once a week to strictly copy papers, create wall displays, etc. I just put it in a box so they know exactly where to get the "to do" list. Use your parents as a resource. If you have an open-door policy, they are much more approachable and realize that you are open to them.
My favorite part of each day is the hugs I receive. I have a couple of behaivior problems but I always make sure I start the day with them on a positive note with them. That makes a huge difference. Good luck! It's a long journey into the teaching field but very well worth it.
