I totally agree with BN

Almost any job you first begin can feel overwhelming and often people want to quit. I know friends who have begun jobs and hated their first year and then grown to love their jobs no matter what the field.

Teaching is
the same for many people. The first 1-3 years are often the most stressful. Not only are you figuring out curriculum and classroom management, you are dealing with evaluations, report cards, meetings, colleagues, parents, the list goes on and on.
But each year you teach - you become better at handling some of the "smaller" things so you can concentrate more on your classroom and even

on your personal life.

We are not perfect - I've been teaching for 11 years now and I still make mistakes. But I wouldn't trade my career for anything - well perhaps a few million dollars would be convincing

I have always recommended to anyone struggling in their first year to at least give it a second year if they can. I also like to list pros and cons of what I'm doing so I can make a better decision as to where I want to be in the future. So take a good look at the grade you are teaching, your administration, your colleagues, etc., and decide if a change to a new grade or school would help your situation. If most things are fine, then give that 2nd year a chance to see if things are better for you. You'll be amazed at how much easier some things will be for you in your second year.
