ARGH! By Melissastarr

There is only 1 teacher among our group of 4 that I get along with, the other 2 are awful. The toughest woman in the group has gone to administration complaining about me. Her complaint? She doesn't think it right that| I use more fun methods of education (dance, song, cooperative learning, skits, games, etc.) and she's concerned because her students complain all day that they want to be in my class. Yes, she actually complained to administration about this. One of the administrators came to me shortly thereafter and asked about my relationship with the woman. I told the truth and the administrator | | told me about the complaint and that the complaint proves I'm doing my job well. For better or for worse, the principal, vice principal, and administrative mentor all sat down with this woman and told her that if her students were complaining that they wanted to be in my class rather than hers then SHE needs to step up to the plate and become more fun, creative, challenging, and interesting in her teaching. While hearing this response helped me to see that administration is on my side, it does nothing to bolster our relationship. I was told briefly at the end of this past week that administration wanted to meet with me as this woman lodged another complaint. The woman who told me about the upcoming meeting mentioned that I shouldn't be worried, that they'd like me to teahc an in-service about how to be creative, fun, and effective in the classroom based on what this woman said. Go figure! But... it doesn't help to make our weekly team meetings any more pleasant!
