Me again By Meg

In response to the post that said that the bright side of this was that the observers were in so much they knew that if I had a bad day it wasn't the norm. Not necessarily. Because they have so many observations to do,| they hit us quickly. They have this long form to fill out, and they have to log in all the bloom's taxonomy things that are going on. If we don't get all our points, we are questioned. Last month, the observer came in while I was doing a multiplication speed drill. She came in as I was distributing the drill and left as I was collecting. When I didn't get my "bloom's points" it was | | like I wasn't teaching! How in the crap can you teach higher level thinking during a speed drill?? Evaluate why you don't know your tables? Analyze the reason you can't do 100 problems in five minutes?? They have also been known to come in in the last fifteen minutes of my math lesson. We are doing the assessment, which is usually book work or a worksheet. The observation looks like I am teaching with worksheets which is not the case. They didn't see the entire lesson where I had thought through and taught it and used so called "higher level" thinking. They came in when I was assessing what I had taught and due to the fact I was ASSESSING my mouth was shut because the kids were required to think on their own. Go figure. I have come to the conclusion. Either 1,I just don't get it or 2, I am a total genius. Cause clearly there is a problem here that no one else seems to see.
