I wouldn't consider the fact that you are unable to teach your own daughter a failure on either your part or hers. It's not that uncommon for parent and/or child to be unable to make the switch in roles. I've had several parents say to me, "I would love to homeschool, but it would destroy my relationship with my child." With some personalities it works, with others it doesn't. I'm not getting into the spanking debate (!), but I would say that if you do end up keeping your daughter in your class, you need to: 1. Treat her just as you would any other student. (Don't give her a punishment or special favors you wouldn't give the others.) 2. Keep school problems at school. (That would be true for any age, but at four consequences need to be immediate. Can she even remmeber what happened at school that she is getting swatted for at home?) Just my opinion for what it's worth.
