Ask principal. By BN

Hi, We always have a pre and post interview with our evals. At the pre eval we would discuss what would be evaluated. If we did not have a meeting or interview before hand the principal would put pre eval sheets in out mailbox| noting the subject and items that she would be looking for during the evaluation.I always liked these sheets. It gave you a brief overview of what was expected during your evaluation. I think you would find it helpful if your principal did something like this. So, I would ask him/her about the certain things he/she will be looking for during the evaluation. Go to him/her and ask. I | | would say that I am preparing for my eval and I would like to know if there were any specific teaching or management techniques he/she will be looking for. Is there any thing in particular he/she will expect to observe with the fifth grade.(Different grades have different expectations so it would be helpful to know for your particular grade level.) Sometimes there is more of a comfort level in numbers so maybe another teacher could go with you.Ask other teachers if they any concerns about being evaluated. Then you could tell him/her that there a few teachers that have questions and you are asking for yourself and the others and could he/she please address your concerns. I also would suggest he/she might want to address this at a faculty meeting or in a memo.Believe me you are not the only one that has a concern about the eval.Check it out with other teachers. To repeat the only way to find out is to ask exactly what will be evaluated. It will take a load off your mind and it will help you in preparing. It is the unknown that leads to the jitters. Good luck.
