Art etc. Anyone who wanted a club just had to ask & it was done. Why doesn't that happen now? Lots of reasons. Now, teens want to roam, listen to walkmans, horse around, tease, play tag, etc. They spend so much time at home on computers/electronics.. at school they don't have these items, nor are they interested in spending more time in a classroom. Technology has changed the way teens spend their off time. We offer B-ball at lunch, but not all students attend. During the 70's, my bro & his friends had guitars. At lunch they would play softly in the halls. It was a different era. Each generation likes different things. This one likes electronics. Right after Xmas, you should see what kids bring to school. Photo cameras...imagine what a student could do with a photo taken in the bathroom, or..what if they taped someone? It's all coming into the school. And here's my last rant. Why is it that students had their own cell phones at school, loooooong before teachers had them? Of course school boards will never give teachers phones. Gotta keep them cottonpickers heads down and busy..or else they might get the idea that the system SUCKS donkey butts... So I bought my own. I never have it on at all. It's there to call parents after school. It just makes me want to ralph when I think about all this. And we still teach.
