Mini lessons for this level would include
teaching concepts of print like left to right, return sweep, etc

strategies for unkonown words like look at the picture, think about the text etc

and comprehension like retlling, making connection to self, and visualization. Debbie Miller's book Reading with Meaning is great for the comprehension piece.
