I agree. Assigned places have worked the best for me. I usually watch the first couple of days of school to see which children cannot sit together and be "good listeners" and then assign seating. I also put the struggling students and discipline problems closer to me for obvious reasons (you know they wouldn't willingly sit right under your feet).Hope that helps!
