Same problem - same book!

My kids are so bored with social studies. It's hard coming up with neat ideas to keep them awake and interested. Some of the material is way over their heads. For communities, I put them in groups and let them draw posters/pictures of all the things they would see in an urban, rural and suburban community. They enjoyed it. I'd like more ideas if anybody has any...
