I teach 1-3 grade multiage and my 3rd graders are having a hard time as well. I feel the same way you do...lost for what to try next. We have been going over and over it, every possible way i can think of. We'll see if it worked or not, they have a quiz next week. If you come up with anything please share :o)Smiles,
