These are all excellent ideas. May I also suggest a couple of books. "Kid Writing" which is published by the Wright Group is my bible. I implemented it 6 years ago and have seen amazing results. Also, I can't think of the name but Marcia Freeman has a book out that is outstanding. How to set up writing workshop, and every little detail you need to teach primary writers. Good luck!
