5th grade

Clip to ScrapBook
In 5th grade, we teach an immigration unit. As part of the unit students go home and discuss their ancestors and their heritage. They try to find the oldest story from their family to come in and share with the class. In the past, I have had students make family trees as far back as grandparents. Some teachers prefer "family gardens" because of the diverse families out there today. However, geneology is not written expressly in our standard course of study.
