spelling

I dont'use a weekly spelling program either. I use theme words which relate to our topic of study in math, science, social studies. (eg. habitat, carnivore, predator)-the students need to use these words in their writing assigments so they might as well learn how to spell them correctly. I'll also look at their writing work to see any weaknesses: making plurals, adding ly, etc. I also use the scholastic grade 4 spelling book which I also use to supplement my words.
