I teach kids with MR at middle school too. We do use an Edmark reading program and sight words as well as phonics based spelling. I also try to include some functional stuff like reading simple recipes, grocery lists, etc. I am looking for a good reading assessment to use with some of my students. I have used the Basic Reading Inventory but am looking for something more phonetic based to see if I should continue with teaching phonics to some-Anyone have ideas?
