moons and stars

In my room this year, my students are overly anxious to read. They each have a moon with their name on it hanging from the ceiling. After they finish reading a book, they fill out a story map and receive a star to color in. I then hang the star from their moon. It's a heated competition until the end of the year, when the moons come down and they see how many books they have read. They really enjoy it (I teach third grade).
